How to Use TikTok in Nepal After Ban [100% Works]

by Lokesh Naik
June 20, 2025

TikTok changed the game for short videos. People everywhere loved it for the funny clips, cool dance moves, and creative content. It made it super easy for anyone to become a creator and show their talent to the world. In Nepal too, tons of people were using TikTok every day just for fun, to learn something new, or to share moments from their life.

But TikTok has been banned in Nepal for a while now. Just like India, which banned it earlier, the Nepali government also decided to block the app completely. That means you can’t open TikTok or even visit its website using regular internet in the country. It doesn’t work on Android or iPhone anymore.

The main reason behind the ban is that the government believes TikTok was spreading hate speech, fake news, and causing social tension. Similar concerns led to the ban in other countries too. And honestly, that’s been frustrating for so many people who were using and enjoying the app every single day.

Still, that hasn’t stopped folks from trying to figure out a way to use it again. TikTok became part of their daily routine, and now everyone’s looking for a fix. If you’re also trying to use TikTok in Nepal after ban, you’re not alone — many users have found a few workarounds that still let them access the app. Keep reading to find out how.Guide to use TikTok in Nepal after the government ban

How to Use TikTok in Nepal After the Ban (Still Working!

Use VPN with this Trick

If TikTok isn’t working on your phone because of the ban, the easiest way to access it again is by using a VPN. A VPN (Virtual Private Network) changes your internet location. So even if you’re in Nepal, it makes it look like you’re browsing from another country where TikTok still works. This way, you can open the TikTok app or website without any problem.

There are tons of VPN apps out there, but they’re not all great. Some are slow, full of ads, or stop working after a while. Many people suggest using a trusted VPN, and if possible, go for a paid one. It’s usually faster and more stable than free ones.

While VPNs do work, there’s one small issue to be aware of. TikTok checks the account location you’re logged into or the details linked to your account. Select a country inside your VPN app to use

So, I’ll tell you a quick trick – clear the TikTok app data first, then create a new TikTok account. When signing up, avoid using anything that shows you’re from Nepal (like your Nepali phone number or email). After that, turn on your VPN, connect to a country where TikTok isn’t banned (like Singapore, the UK, or the US), and open the TikTok app now. It should start working without any errors.VPN successfully connected to a different country

Use TikTok on a Web Browser (Without the App)

Another way to use TikTok in Nepal after the ban is by skipping the app completely and opening it through your phone’s web browser like Chrome or Safari. However, even to use this method, you need to have a VPN app on your phone. If you already have it installed, open the VPN and connect to a country where TikTok is still working, like Singapore, the US, or the UK.

Once the VPN is enabled, visit the official TikTok website. Now, here’s the important part — tap on the three dots (menu) in your browser and select “Request Desktop Site.” This will load the full desktop version of TikTok, not the mobile one. The desktop site usually works better with VPNs and gives you access to more features compared to the limited mobile site.

From there, you can log in or create a new account (just like with the app), watch videos, and even upload if needed. It might feel a little different from using the app, but it still works well and lets you scroll through TikTok just like before.

Reinstall TikTok from Outside the App Store

Here’s another method that’s been working for a lot of people. It’s a bit of a different method, but quite simple. First of all, you need to uninstall or delete the TikTok app from your phone. Once you do that, turn on your VPN and connect to a country where TikTok isn’t blocked, like the US or Singapore.

Now comes the important part — since the app is banned in Nepal, you won’t find it on the Play Store or App Store. So instead, just search “Download TikTok APK” on Google. Now, from the results, select any trusted sites like Uptodown or APKMirror (avoid random sites you don’t trust) and download the app from there and install it manually on your phone. Once it’s installed, open TikTok while your VPN is still on and create a new account.

Change DNS

If you don’t want to use a VPN or pay for one, here’s another trick to use TikTok in nepal that’s been working for a lot of people. You can open TikTok just by changing something called DNS on your phone. Basically, this method helps you get around the block your internet provider has put on TikTok. Moreover, this doesn’t require you to install anything or use an app.

  • Open the Settings on your phone and search for Private DNSPrivate DNS option in Android network settings menu
  • Tap on it and choose the option that says Private DNS provider hostname
  • In the box, type one of these: 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com (for Cloudflare) or dns.google (for Google DNS)Android screen showing dns.google.com entered as custom Private DNS provider
  • Click the Save button, and you are done.

Now your DNS is set, and TikTok should start working again as usual.

If you’re using Wi-Fi, you can try changing DNS settings to access TikTok. To change the DNS of a WiFi, follow below simple steps below on Android or iOS.

On Android

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi & Network
  2. Tap your connected Wi-Fi
  3. Choose Advanced or Modify Network
  4. Set IP Settings to Static
  5. Enter Google: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1
  6. Save and reconnect.

On iPhone

  1. Open device Settings > Wi-Fi
  2. Tap the (i) next to your Wi-FiTap the info (i) icon next to your Wi-Fi network on iOS
  3. Tap Configure DNS > ManualSelect “Configure DNS” and switch to “Manual” to start setting custom DNS
  4. Add Google: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1
  5. Save and done.Add Cloudflare or Google DNS and tap save on iOS

Note: This works for some users, but not always. It doesn’t hide your activity, and might not bypass all blocks. Still, it’s worth trying!

Try a Modded Version of TikTok (Android Only)

Okay, so we haven’t tried this one ourselves, but a lot of people say it works. Since TikTok is banned in a bunch of countries, some modded versions of the app are available online. These are edited versions of TikTok where the region lock is removed, so you can use them without any country restrictions.

This method only works on Android phones. Just search something like “TikTok mod APK region unlocked” on Google and download it. After that, install it (make sure your phone is set to allow app installs from unknown sources) and use it even in banned countries.

Note: We’re just sharing what others have tried. We don’t promote the use of modded apps, and we’re not responsible for any issues that may come from using them. Always be careful when downloading anything from the internet.
