Muscle Monster App Review: Does It Really Help You Reach Fitness Goals

What is Muscle Monster App

Muscle Monster is a workout app that creates personalized training programs based on your goals and fitness background. The main aim of this app is to help you lose fat, build muscle, improve strength, or simply stay active and healthy. Along with smart workout plans, the Muscle Monster app also gives you the choice to explore a huge library of exercises covering strength training, bodyweight workouts, kettlebells, dumbbells, barbells, and even stretching routines.

Muscle Monster is a practical and easy-to-use app that works well for people who want to train at home or in the gym. You can use it without any equipment or include fitness tools if you have them. So what can Muscle Monster do for you? In the section below, check out the key features of the Muscle Monster workout app.

  • Exercises can feel stretched out with unnecessary repetitions and long timers
  • Some workout plans are already available for free on other platforms
  • Premium push is strong, with a 7-day free trial offered only after giving a 5-star rating
  • Overall routines may be too basic for experienced users and mainly suit beginners.
  • Poor customer support.

Muscle Monster App Price

The Muscle Monster app comes with different subscription plans. The minimum is a 1-month plan, which costs $19.99, so the Muscle Monster app cost per month starts from that point. A 6-month plan is priced at $29.99, and the 12-month plan costs $199. Most of the time, the yearly plan comes with a discount, but the price can change depending on your country. To know the exact cost, you will need to download the app and check directly.Muscle Monster App Price Screen with subscription plans

There is also a “lucky spin” feature inside the app where you spin a wheel and unlock special discounts.

Talking about free access, the app does give a 7-day premium trial. However, to claim it, you are asked to leave a 5-star review on the app store, which we feel is not a good sign.Muscle Monster App Get Free Premium feature for users

Our Review of the Muscle Monster App

Our team tried the Muscle Monster app using the 7-day trial to see what it can actually do. Right after downloading, the app asked us to go through a long list of questions about goals and preferences. You cannot skip these, but to be fair, this is common in fitness apps since they use the answers to build a plan.

After a few seconds, it gave us tailored goals and immediately showed subscription prices for 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months. The yearly plan looked cheaper compared to the monthly price, but most of the workouts were locked behind a paywall, and there was no proper preview of what you actually get.

The so-called free 7-day trial only unlocks if you leave a 5-star review on the app store, which we felt was a red flag. Because of this, we decided to pay for a 1-month plan to test it properly. Sadly, our experience was average at best. Some workouts repeated the same exercise up to six times, and the timer gave way too much rest. The AI trainer did not seem intelligent, as calorie counts stayed the same even when we changed workout difficulty or time. Overall, the programs felt repetitive and suited only for beginners.

There are positives though. The app has a clean interface, it is simple to use, and the workout videos are well-made. These videos make it easy to learn proper form, and the progress tracker is helpful for staying motivated. For anyone new to fitness, these guided visuals could be useful, especially in the gym.Muscle Monster App homescreen showing workout tracking options

But the negatives are hard to ignore. There is almost no customizability. You cannot easily change equipment, adjust weights, or fine-tune your plan. Even when making a custom plan, it defeats the purpose of having a guided program. Support is also poor. We contacted the developers but never got a response. Many users, including us, faced issues with refund policies. If you prepay for the year, the trial is not honored, and the app has strict and confusing cancellation rules. Several people reported being charged automatically even after unsubscribing. This explains why the app has so many 5-star ratings; it pushes users to post a review in exchange for a trial.

Another major issue is value for money. At nearly $200 per year, Muscle Monster feels overpriced compared to other apps or even buying one-time programs and books that cover fitness, anatomy, and training methods. Since exercise science does not change every year, paying a recurring subscription for an average app feels unreasonable.

Muscle Monster Review: Final Words

After testing Muscle Monster, our team feels it is only useful for absolute beginners who want simple instructions and basic form guidance. The exercise videos and progress tracker are the main positives, but the lack of customization, repetitive routines, poor refund practices, and questionable trial method hold it back. With so many other workout apps on the market, including some that cost less or have one-time purchases, we do not recommend Muscle Monster for serious fitness enthusiasts.
