Garmin and Strava are two of the most popular fitness tracking platforms available today. Garmin has been a leader in GPS technology for over three decades, providing high-quality devices that accurately track your activities. Meanwhile, Strava has become the go-to social network for athletes, letting users share workouts, compete with friends, and dive deep into performance analytics.

The integration of Garmin Connect and Strava has been a huge benefit for many fitness enthusiasts. It allows for seamless syncing of activity data between the two platforms, providing a comprehensive tracking solution. Users have raved about the convenience and motivation this collaboration provides.

However, when the Garmin to Strava sync stops working, it can be incredibly frustrating. I recently encountered this issue myself – despite my best troubleshooting efforts, my Garmin activities were not uploading to my Strava feed. After some digging, I discovered it was due to a glitch in the syncing process between the two apps.

Do not worry, though – there are steps you can take to fix the Garmin Connect to Strava not working issue. How to Fix Garmin Connect to Strava Not Working

Strava moderators have recently acknowledged that there have been syncing issues between Garmin and Strava on their community forum. They described the problem as a delay on Strava’s end, confirming that it was not caused by users’ devices or apps.

Some users reported that their syncing automatically resumed once the Garmin to Strava connection was restored. However, many were frustrated to discover that their activity data from the period when syncing was down had been lost permanently.

If you’ve experienced missing activity data due to the recent Garmin and Strava syncing problems, here are the troubleshooting ways you must try.

Manually Uploading to Strava

If your Garmin activities are not automatically syncing to Strava, you can manually upload them to ensure your data is not lost. Here’s a step-by-step instructions on how to do this:

Exporting from Garmin Connect:

  1. Visit this page and sign in to your Garmin Connect account
  2. In the left-hand menu, click on “Activities” to see your activity list.
  3. Find the specific activity you want to export and click on it to open the activity detail page. Make sure you’re not on the activities list page, as you won’t see the correct export options there.
  4. Look for the gear icon in the top right corner of the activity detail page and click on it to view the export options.
  5. Choose “Export Original” if you want the activity file in its original format (.fit). If the activity file is large, it may download as a .zip file, which you’ll need to uncompress to access the .fit file inside.

Uploading to Strava

  1. Visit this Starva page in your web browser and login to your account
  2. Now, click “Choose File” and select the activity file you exported from Garmin Connect (.fit or unzipped file).
  3. Click “Open” to start the upload process.
  4. Once the upload is complete, you can add any additional details to your activity before saving it to your Strava profile.

While manually uploading activities can be a bit time-consuming, it’s currently the most reliable way to get your Garmin data onto Strava when automatic syncing isn’t working. Strava’s support team recommends trying this method if your activities are still missing 24 hours after a known sync issue.

If you run into any errors during the manual upload process, Strava recommends users to take a screenshot of the error message and send it to their customer support team. This helps them identify and resolve any underlying problems more quickly.

Re-uploading by Gramin Mod

If you’re still experiencing issues with activities not syncing from your Garmin device to Strava after trying other troubleshooting steps, you can try revoking Strava’s access to your Garmin account and then re-establishing the connection. Many users have reported that this re-authorization process can resolve lingering syncing issues between Garmin and Strava. So, here how you can do it:

  1. Log into your Strava account
  2. Now, go to your “Settings” page.
  3. Click on the “Apps” tab on the left side of the screen.
  4. Find the Garmin Connect app in the list and click “Revoke Access“. This will disconnect Strava from your Garmin account.
  5. Refresh the page, and you should see a “Connect with Garmin” button on the right side of the screen.
  6. Click this button and follow the prompts to re-authorize Strava to access your Garmin data. Make sure you grant all the necessary permissions during this process.
  7. Once you’ve reconnected the accounts, try recording a new test activity on your Garmin device and see if it automatically syncs to Strava.
