How to Fix Westpac App Not Working on Android and iPhone

Check Your Internet Connection

Check the Internet Connection

Since the Westpac app works online, it needs a good internet connection to run properly. If your internet is slow or having issues when it comes to speed, the app might not load, or you could have trouble checking your balance or making payments.

If you’re on Wi-Fi, try switching to a different network if possible. Or just turn off Wi-Fi and use mobile data for a while to see if that works better. Sometimes the Wi-Fi signal is weak, especially if you’re far from the router, and that can slow things down. You can also try switching to mobile data can often fix the issue.

Check if Westpac Servers Are Down

Check if Westpac app is down due to server issues or maintenance

Sometimes, the reason the app isn’t working has nothing to do with your phone. It could just be that Westpac’s servers are down. When that happens, no one can log in or use the app properly.

This usually happens when they’re doing maintenance or there’s some technical issue on their end. You might see messages like “Authenticating” that don’t go away. To see if that’s the case, you can check the Westpac server status using a site like DownDetector. Just click on this link and see if other people are having the same problem.

If the servers are down, there’s really nothing much you can do except wait for them to fix it. But if everything looks fine and the app is still giving you trouble, then the problem might be on your side. Let’s look at what you can try next.

Force Close and Open the App Again

Sometimes the Westpac app just doesn’t load right, or features like Face ID or fingerprint stop working. This can happen even if your internet is fine. One quick thing you can try is closing the app completely and opening it again.

So, click the recent apps button on your phone, swipe the Westpac app away from the list of all running apps to close it. You can also clear all apps from the recent apps list. Then open the Westpac app again and see if it works better.

Restart Your Phone

Sometimes, just restarting your phone can fix small issues between the Westpac app and your device.

While most of you probably know how to restart your device, here’s a quick reminder just in case:

  • To restart an Android phone, press and hold the power button, then tap Restart.Restart Phone
  • On an iPhone, press and hold Volume Up or Volume Down along with the Side button, then drag the slider to turn it off. Once it’s off, press and hold the Power button again until you see the Apple logo.iOS Slide to Power Off

Log Out and Log Back In

If you’ve been logged into the Westpac app for a long time, sometimes the session can glitch or get corrupted. It is often enough to log out and log back in again to clear that up.

Just open the app, go to the menu, and tap Logout. After that, restart your phone. Then open the app again and log in using your customer ID and password. This refreshes your session and might fix the issue.

If the app is stuck on the loading screen and you can’t even open it, you can try clearing the app data by going to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Westpac > Storage > Clear Data on Android.

Clear Westpac App Cache (Android)

If the Westpac app keeps crashing or just gets stuck on the loading screen, clearing the app cache might be a solution. The cache is like temporary storage that helps the app run faster, but sometimes it gets messed up and creates issues while using the app.

  1. To clear the cache of the app on Android, open the Settings on your phone
  2. Navigate to the Apps or Installed Apps section
  3. Select Westpac and tap Storage
  4. Then tap on Clear Cache.Clear cache on Android

Offload Westpac App (iPhone)

iPhones don’t have a clear cache option like Android, but you can use the Offload App option to remove old or broken data without losing your app info. This can help fix glitches on the app without fully deleting everything.Offload app on iOS

Just go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Westpac, then tap Offload App and confirm. After that, tap Reinstall App and test whether it works better now.

Update the Westpac App

If you’re stuck on the login screen or the app isn’t working properly, you might be using an older version of the app. Updating it could help fix the issue.

While developers often release new updates to improve the app, fix bugs, and add new features, sometimes those updates can also bring new bugs. This happens with almost every app, not just Westpac. Still, updating your app regularly is usually the best way to avoid common problems.

To check for updates, go to the Google Play Store if you’re on Android or the App Store if you’re using an iPhone. Search for the Westpac app and tap Update if there’s one available. Then open the app again and see if it works better.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Westpac App

If you’ve already tried updating the app but it’s still Westpac app not working right, the issue might be with some messed-up files inside the app. One simple fix is to delete the app from your phone and then install it again.

Uninstalling and reinstalling gives the app a fresh start and can clear out anything that’s causing problems. Just remove the Westpac app from your phone, go to the Play Store or App Store, and download it again. Once it’s installed, try logging in and see if it works properly now.
